Keith Beardsley, Managing Director
Keith is not only the owner and Managing Director of Beardsley Contracting Limited, but also a very experienced excavator operator and heavy truck driver with over 50 years experience in the Earthworks business.
Keith began his career working for Ryan Brothers as a school boy labourer during school holidays. But it wasn't long before Keith was working full time, and was then promoted to Gang Foreman. By the age of 21 Keith had saved enough money to buy his own truck, a 1956 Commer, and went out on his own as a Sole Trader carting soil and shingle.
After 38 years as a Sole Trader Keith had built up his business and reputation, and eventually formed Beardsley Contracting Limited in 2007. The business operates out of a large yard that Keith owns in Bromley.
Keith has now handed over the machine operation and truck driving to the younger guys. But he still relishes the opportunity to get back into an excavator when his skills are needed in difficult situations. With his extensive knowledge, Keith is able to meet with clients to offer his professional advice. Keith's role is still 'hands-on' and he personally oversees the company contracts to make sure everything is up to the high standard he has set.
Keith lives in North Canterbury, and has extended the company expertise into rural driveway construction, site excavation for water tanks etc., shelter belt removal and farm clean ups.
Dan Beardsley, Project Manager
After first training as a Surveyor with Davis Ogilvie, Keith's son Dan joined the company in 1998 as a truck driver. He soon became proficient in transporting 20 tonne excavators up the steep and winding roads of Sumner and Redcliffs. Dan has also followed in his fathers footsteps by becoming skilled at operating the excavators, rollers and other machinery involved in the earthworks trade.
As Project Manager Dan runs the 'day to day' side of a project and is always available on site to discuss client requirements, and to make sure all work is carried out to the high standard that the company stands by.
Dan lives in Sumner with his wife Melissa and their two young daughters.
